Embossing in my Running Journal

Image
Here's my project for this month at Scrap Your Crap .  The challenge for June was embossing... Any kind of embossing. This is a page in my running/weight loss journal. I'll be showing you more of this in the coming months. I've recently picked up running (well, I'm working on it, anyhow!) to get in shape and lose some weight.  So, let's get going, shall we? First, distress your kraft paper. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then, pick a stencil, and smooth your embossing pad through it. Remove the stencil and cover ink with clear embossing powder. Remove the excess powder. Heat it up, baby! Paint entire page with a wash of watercolor paint. Blot with a paper towel.  Add your embellishments and goodies. Here's your wiener! Sammy, hanging out under the blanket.

WooHoo! Progress Makes a Girl Happy

So my bestie's daughter is getting married next weekend.  It's a casual, outdoor wedding. I've been wanting to get a new dress to wear for the wedding.  I tried a few on a month or so ago, and quickly became aggravated, and decided to quit shopping. Today, I thought I'd try again. Guess what??!? I bought an adorable dress,  ONE SIZE SMALLER  than what I'd had to get previously. Did you hear that? A FULL SIZE SMALLER! And, I'm not busting out of the seams! WOOHOO!!! Above is the fabric. I'll get hubby to take a picture on wedding day, and I'll post it. And, to make this a complete post.... Here's your wiener. Sammy on one of our walks this week.

Fat Girl on the Run

Hello out there!  Hope you're having a wonderful spring! It's been busy around my house- the kids are done with school, the oldest has her first job (which means mom running her around!), it's party season, and so much more! In the midst of this, I've decided it's *FINALLY* time to get this dang weight off. In the last 17 years, I've put on about 80 lbs. YEAH, 80 pounds on a 5'3", small-boned frame. No wonder I'm tired, and stuff aches, and I get cranky! LOL In April I signed up with My Fitness Pal (I've used Spark People in the past but like MFP much better), and decided to follow the Couch to 5K running plan. I started out just walking as fast as I could. After a week, I started following the C25k plan. After getting through week one, I hurt my toe. I tried to continue to run on it, but that caused it to get infected. So I had to take a few days off. Before I got back on the run, I developed an infection on my face, near my eye, whi
